From September 10 to 15, Lyon will host the WorldSkills global competition. Among the 1400 young talents from 65 countries and regions, Ilyas Chraibi and Traïan Beaujard, two young French prodigies, will compete in the mobile robotics category. This promising duo embodies the future of this discipline and already inspires many passionate young people.

A Complementary Duo

Ilyas Chraibi (18 years old) and Traïan Beaujard (21 years old) form a complementary duo. One often completes the other’s sentences, a testament to their connection and cohesion. Ilyas, recently graduated from high school with a focus on math and engineering sciences, has always been a tinkerer at heart. His skills in robot assembly and electronics will be a valuable asset for the team.

Traïan, on the other hand, has just completed his BTS in Digital Systems, Computing, and Networks. He manages the software aspect of the robot. Passionate about programming, he even started his own business to offer his computing services before going back to his studies.

Inspiring Trajectories

Ilyas and Traïan enjoy sharing their inspiring journeys. Ilyas, who has introduced many young people to robotics in high school, emphasizes the importance of persevering in engineering sciences. Unfortunately, many of his classmates dropped out of this specialty before their final year.

Traïan highlights robotics as a “job of the future.” Previously unsure about his career path, he found his way by exploring different opportunities and seeking help. He stresses the importance of stepping out of your comfort zone and seizing all opportunities.

Mobile Robotics Challenge

In Lyon, the mobile robotics challenge consists of eight modules and will last four days, including two days of finals. The challenge is to program a robot capable of moving autonomously, picking fruits, placing them in a basket, retrieving and planting seeds.

Ilyas and Traïan have modeled their robot in 3D, assembled it with basic materials, and tested it ahead of the competition. Their preparation even includes the use of a motorized candy dispenser to simulate automatic seed planting.

Intensive Preparation

The two young men have participated in weeks of physical and mental preparation with the French team of trades. This immersion has been an enriching experience for Ilyas, the youngest member of the team, allowing him to mature quickly. Traïan, for his part, is excited about the supportive and motivating atmosphere within the team.

In competition, Ilyas and Traïan will face tough competition from 23 other teams, with China, Japan, and South Korea primarily dominating previous podiums. But with their complementarity and determination, they are well-equipped to represent France.
