ToggleThe transformation of La Meusienne into a Scop
La Meusienne, a historic company specialized in the manufacturing of stainless steel tubes, has recently marked a decisive turning point. In July, 40 of its employees joined forces to transform the factory into a Cooperative Production Company (Scop), thus allowing them to maintain control within the factory located in Ancerville, in Meuse. This initiative was driven by Roxanne Creutz, once an intern and now an emblematic figure of internal management quality. With a notable talent for gathering people, she convinced her colleagues and secured support from the Regional Union of the Scop Grand Est, as well as from five banking partners. A new era of autonomy and resilience is beginning for the employees involved. Discover how La Meusienne is reviving
Adapting to survive
Faced with a precarious economic situation, the new partners of La Meusienne decided to redefine their strategies to ensure a sustainable future for their company. In a dynamic of streamlining, the payroll was reduced with the elimination of certain managerial positions. However, the focus is now on process optimization and improving margins. Rather than solely concentrating on large volumes, the new management has chosen to diversify into small series orders, thus offering better margins through more specialized and high-value-added products. In this way, informed decisions, based on a meticulous reading of the numbers, have managed to stop the sales at a loss and pave a promising path toward profitability. A collaborative project in action
At the heart of this transition are the employees, the true driving force behind this collective transformation. Each individual, through their expertise and commitment, contributes to this large-scale project. The factory, with its vast 120,000 m², has undergone a reorganization, bringing essential activities closer together and optimizing available resources. Internally, initiatives like the 5S approach have been implemented to improve productivity and reduce costs. Older equipment is now carefully inspected to assess its real usefulness, thus avoiding excessive and costly returns. This collective momentum and enhanced efficiency open up opportunities for innovation and growth in the months to come, promising a future where each employee is a key player in their own success.
