ToggleAn remarkable journey to the top
The remarkable rise of Klubb Group in the aerial lift market is a success story that propelled this SME French company to the rank of number one in Europe in just a few years. “For the first time, in 2023, we achieved 60% of our sales internationally,” rejoices Julien Bourrellis, the group’s president. With global ambitions, the Seine-et-Marne-based company projects a turnover of 240 million euros in 2024 and aims for the position of world leader within five years.
A bold and visionary strategy
The story of Klubb is a perfect example of a successful strategic transformation. Before becoming a manufacturer in 2015, Klubb was the main global distributor for an American manufacturer of aerial lift arms. This experience allowed the company to build a solid ecosystem, which it was able to leverage when transitioning to independent production by stopping work with its U.S. partner. “I was afraid of losing half of my clients, but they remained loyal to me,” recalls Julien Bourrellis.
International expansion and targeted acquisitions
To consolidate its position as a leader, Klubb Group has set up a network of international partners and made strategic acquisitions. At the beginning of 2024, the group acquired Hematec, its German distributor, after having acquired partners in England and Belgium. “For the past four or five years, we have been pursuing external growth. The goal is not to grow for the sake of growing, but to solidify our position as a leader,” explains the president.
Thanks to these acquisitions, Klubb now sells its products in 48 countries, further strengthening its hold on the global market.
Innovation and customization at the heart of success
Klubb’s international success is based on the versatility of its offering. “To be competitive worldwide, you need to have a common industrial base but customizable, so the arm can be mounted on any truck,” details Julien Bourrellis. This strategy allows Klubb to quickly adapt to the specific needs of different markets and to be very close to car manufacturers to anticipate truck development projects.
A solid infrastructure for a promising future
Klubb operates from three factories located in Ferrières-en-Brie, Croissy-Beaubourg (Seine-et-Marne), and Charleville-Mézières (Ardennes). To diversify its activities and avoid dependence on a single market, the group acquired an Italian manufacturer of tow trucks as well as a French SME specializing in manufacturing fuel service trucks. These acquisitions have increased its workforce to 850 employees.
With these solid foundations and a controlled strategy, Klubb Group has no intention of slowing down and is planning many more expansions and innovations in the coming years.
